Windows Vista Glass PSD by halfwayglad Windows Vista Glass PSD by halfwayglad
Updated: Blurred the center highlight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that my sidebar is just about complete and I am moving on to a new project, it is time to release my own personal version of the Windows Vista Glass.

I know it has been done over and over, but I have given this *.PSD my strictest attention to detail, as with everything I make.

The preview image shows an example using my glass, and the glass itself.

This file, among other things, features its own separate color tint layer and is accurate with both dark and light wallpapers/backgrounds.

IMPORTANT: The sequence of each layer is paramount! Do not alter their sequencing.

As always, please give credit if you use this in a project=).

Comments welcome. Enjoy!

I take pride in my work and am always looking for ways to improve it. If you enjoy my submissions, feel free to add me to your favorites! :+devwatch:

Your best bet would be to duplicate each layer you want larger and tile them. If you try to enlarge those layers they will begin to pixelate.

that is the best way to enlarge, but i was shrinking them. thanks for responding. oh, and again, i really do think that glass is beautiful.

No--it would be pointless to try and explain it. It's basically just gradients on angles.

You need the full Photoshop application to open PSD files. You can download a trial for thirty days off Adobe's website. That wat what you can use the file and then delete the trial.

i really love the detail and you had accomplished the look of the default color of Windows Aero! I have Vista ultimate right now. The only thing is that the curves beneath the back and go buttons is quite narrow... but your work is very very nice!!!

Thank you! Your compliment is much appreciated.

As a side note, my main concern was with the glass--the buttons were more of an afterthought =).

There's no white outline of the "X" buttons in the right top corner. But it's really cool ;)

That x button is taken directly from a screenshot of Vista and pasted in because the primary focus is the glass. I don't understand your comment.

In any event, thanks for the appreciation!

the 3(close,min,max) button have a thin(1px) white outline in vista.

Ah I see it. The min, max, close are placeholders so it's negligible.

Okay, so with so many people saying the line was too sharp, I have blurred it and updated the file. You were all right and I was wrong-but don't get used to it! ;p

I blurred the wallpaper to show that it is just about 100% accurate. Without the blur it looks a bit off, but still acceptable.
